This was one of my favorite photo sessions, as a creative, there are certain days when you just feel like everything is working…. the light is perfect, your subject is not only gorgeous she’s also so photogenic it’s magical, all your ideas are working somehow, and your creative juices are flowing freely…. its a rare, feel-good kind of day, and this was one of those days! Paulina Johnson is a beautiful person, inside and out, and I’m so excited that she was willing to participate in our Model Call-out sessions. I met Paulina when I stepped on the crowded Megabus to come home from the PDN Expo in NYC last fall. My friend Kristin and I were late getting to the bus stop that night and most of the seats were filled, I’m looking everywhere and I hear “you can sit here next to me” and I look down and see this sweet girl move her photography bags and make room for me. I sat down and we soon started swapping stories about the conference, how cool we thought Creative Live is, and about the event she was going to attend the next day with Chase Jarvis, and I immediately knew I found a new photography friend who was as enamored with the art of photography as much as I am! Such a great trip home!
Paulina is one creative, super sweet, talented, and wonderful person, and I loved getting the chance to meet up with her again in Washington D.C. when we spent the afternoon hanging out for her Model Call-out portrait session! As a side note, you should definitely check out her work on her website, blog and facebook business page!

For our model call-out session number four, I was invited to Kristin and Gavin’s home to photograph them baking peanut butter cookies and playing their favorite game Sorry, it was awesome! Seriously, how fun are they? I had a blast hanging out with the two of them, and loved photographing the love shared between this mom and her adorable little boy!
Ahhhh I had so much fun with these Model Call-out sessions! And I’m so grateful to everyone who was a part of it. Katie Morse is one beautiful and talented lady, and it was so much fun spending the afternoon with her at Union Mills Homestead! This was the first portrait session that I have photographed where I was serenaded by super awesome music the whole time, it was so great! I love Katie’s infectious smile, her passion for music, and her zest for life, and her appreciation for the color orange…. seriously, have you seen her car? It’s so cool. I’m never around this girl when she isn’t smiling from ear to ear, she’s one of those people that I’m pretty sure I could never have a bad day around, and her portrait session for our Model Call-out was no different, I enjoyed every second! Thank you KT!
Abraham Lincoln once said, “I remember my mother’s prayers and they have always followed me. They have clung to me all my life.” I came across this quote one evening when I was scrolling through pins on Pinterest, and as soon as I read it, I have to admit to you, tears filled my eyes. Every time I think of the countless hours of prayer my Mom has spent talking to God on my behalf, my heart is so full with gratitude I can’t help but get emotional. My Mom is by far, without a shadow of a doubt, the strongest, most intelligent, caring, compassionate, and godly woman I know. She has shown me through her words and actions, every day of my life, just what being a Christ follower really looks like. She sacrificed years pouring into mine and my sister’s educations, spent countless hours home schooling us, making sure we not only understood the subjects we were studying, but doing our best to excel in them. She gave, and still gives, selflessly to others in need, using whatever resources and knowledge she possesses to help them in any way that she can. She has been the backbone of our family for as long as I can remember, she helps run my dad’s business, year after year, takes care of all of us in more ways then I can count, and on top of it all is our emotional stronghold, everyday…. I’m exhausted just thinking about it! She is my biggest fan, my strongest support, my best friend, she’s my mom, and she is remarkable. I am blessed beyond words to have such an amazing woman to call Mom, to have provided me with a childhood that is out of the storybooks, to be my best friend in adulthood, and my constant support in life. My mom has believed in my dreams even when I didn’t, and because of her sacrifices and support, I have been able to experience things in my young life that I only before dreamed about. I am one very blessed, very grateful daughter. I pray that if I am ever a mother one day, that I can be at least half of what my mother has been to me, and to everyone around her.
Mom, I love you! Happy Mother’s Day!

PS- This is Gran with Baby Hudson, as my niece Gwen calls them – Love them so much!
This couple is so awesome, no seriously, they are really wonderful. I know what you are thinking, “Mary, you say that about just about everyone you photograph”…. and that’s probably true, I do have the privilege of having the coolest clients ever, but Justin and Amber exceptionally special. I was fortunate to be able to photograph for them for several different portrait sessions over the last couple of years, and I feel so blessed to of been able to document their special day! When I look at both Justin and Amber, I can’t help but see God’s goodness and grace, and how He had great plans for all of us. What I know of their story makes me so happy, because everything I know about it makes me see God’s fingerprints all over it. I love getting to see the love that they share between each other, their love for God, their love for their kids, their love for their family and friends, their love for life, it’s truly beautiful.
Amber and Justin I am so very happy for you, and I am so excited to see how God continues to write your story, and use you both in amazing ways! You are beautiful souls.
